The whisky was probably enough to keep Hitoya warm but you had spoiled him.

You had given him so much more in life than he thought he’d ever had and though romance had never been his number one priority, it had certainly shifted up on his list the day he met you. You now ranked higher than money though he told you not to let that get to your head as he still wouldn’t be making every frivolous purchase you wanted (he only indulges you most of the time, not always). But you were much the same with your own money, buying him his favorite name brand whisky and cozying up next to him on a cold winter night when you could be doing anything else. There were a lot of fun activities occurring outside but Hitoya had been too burnt out from work to go anywhere, telling you that he wouldn’t hold it against you if you decided to head out with friends instead.

You had told him that was silly and that you’d much rather spend the night in with him.

You had turned on some corny holiday movie that had so much cheer in it that Hitoya wanted to vomit but it was made enjoyable by the jokes that would spill out of your mouth every once in a while, and you weren’t even the one drinking. You’d taken one sip of his whisky and winced as if he’d slapped you, thanking him for setting your chest on fire and telling him to enjoy his demon drink while you sipped on your eggnog instead. He was fine with keeping his alcohol to himself as long as you kept your eggnog out of his sight which led to a bit of bickering that ended up with you nestled under his arm as a warm blanket was spread across your laps.

“I think we should watch one of those corny horror movies, like where it’s Santa but he brings DEATH instead of presents, you know?”

Hitoya didn’t know if it was the liquor or if he was just feeling particularly enamored with you that night but it felt like the smile he had on was impossible to wipe away.
