Jakurai is immediately annoyed.

He was never the one to listen to others insults, he had dealt with far worse and had also felt more negatively towards himself than anyone possibly could, but when his family was brought into the equation was when this wolf showed off his fangs. He knew it was normal during rap battles for the opponents to head straight for the throat but hearing the way your name was said, the fact that your child was brought into it at all, really set him off. The next verse he spits out is more brutal than anything Hifumi or Doppo had ever heard leave the good doctors mouth and they’re left staring at him in awe as the fight finally comes to an end.

“Hit a nerve there, doc?” Hifumi tried to lighten the mood with laughter and Jakurai appreciated him for it, but there was something else he had to attend to now that he double-checked his teammates were in good health. You had likely been watching the battle and hearing one of your greatest insecurities spoken aloud like that… He knew he couldn’t just leave it be until the entire competition was over. Jakurai apologized to his friends as he set off into the crowded arena to find you.

“Hey!” You spotted the elegant long-haired man before he saw you, holding your arm as high in the air as possible when you waved so you could successfully flag him down; thankfully he had become skilled at picking your voice out from a crowd, heading towards you immediately and his eyes lighting up as he sees your son perched on a seat beside you.

“You’re both here?”

“We are.” Your son stood on top of the chair, arms reaching out towards Jakurai who happily held him. “Thankfully he doesn’t entirely get what’s going on but… He wanted to hear his daddy being cool. And he threw a fit when I tried to leave him with a sitter.”

“I see…” Jakurai’s smile is gentle as he pressed a kiss to your sons forehead, greeting you in the same way though he lingered a bit longer, “I came to-“

“I’m okay, Jakurai. I knew you would worry about me but… well, the nasty things they’ve said about you have made me more upset than their assumptions about our family. That just means you better win this whole thing! Don’t let ‘em off easy talking about our family that way.”
