The conversation was innocent enough but Fox didn’t like the tone of voice the other man was using with you.

He knew that tone, it was one that Coco used when she was talking to someone she found attractive, which could only mean you were being hit on. He couldn’t hear the details of the conversation at all from where he was but he stopped himself from getting too close and interrupting, sitting himself down nearby to wait for you to notice him.

“…He’s hitting on you, you know that, right?”

He heard the sound of your body hitting some solid object, probably the chair you were standing next to as you jumped, his voice suddenly invading your head. He knew at this moment you were probably whipping over to look at him with a pout before brushing it off and trying to continue on with the conversation you had been having previously.

“Fox, stop being distracting! I’m talking to someone!”

“That’s why I’m distracting you. I don’t like the way he’s looking at you.”

“You can’t see the way he’s looking at me!” You were trying to stop your smile from growing wider as the conversation you were having didn’t call for it but you glanced at Fox out of the corner of your eye, seeing he was trying to be as inconspicuous as possible at an adjacent table. The conversation quickly fizzled out as your distracted nature was made apparent to your conversational partner who perhaps thought you were acting just a bit too weird. 

“Are you happy?” You grumbled as the painful human interaction finally came to an end, sitting beside Fox who was whistling innocently as if he had nothing to do with the embarrassment you were feeling. “You never struck me as the jealous type but you’re just full of surprises.” 

“Me?” Fox pointed to himself, “Jealous? Never.” 

“I’ll just ask Coco then, I know you inadvertently projected your thoughts to them about me before.”

“Now that’s just not playing fair.” 

“All’s fair in love and war, Fox.”
